SPECIAL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT CONCLUDED AT MORAWEWA NORTH SINHALA VIDYALAYA

In line to the 73rd anniversary of the SLAF and also in collaboration with Sri Lanka Air Force and “Pirunu Kusak Pirunu Hisak” charitable organization, the opening ceremony was held today (11 March 2024) to hand over the newly constructed main Classroom and Computer/ Science Laboratory Building with the purpose of enhancing the educational experience of students attending the Morawewa North Sinhala Vidyalaya.  

This opening ceremony commenced with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque with the participation of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Morawewa, Group Captain Hemantha Balasooriya, Dr. Kiloshini Hendawitharana and other representatives from the ‘Pirunu Kusak Pirunu Hisak’ charitable organization and Principal of the Morawewa North Sinhala Vidyalaya.

This Community Service Project was completed under a generous partnership between “Pirunu Kusak Pirunu Hisak”, a charitable organization renowned for funding school lunch and other social/educational support programs for school children in the North Central region of Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Air Force. Moreover, unwavering support was extended in terms of administrative formalities by the Zonal Education Director (Trincomalee North) and Educational Secretary of Eastern Provincial from the inception to the completion of this project. The SLAF provided the entire gamut of management, engineering and labor services to construct the project free of charge, with the approval of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and supervised by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit under the theme of “Guwan Mithudam”.

The ceremony was attended by Officers and other ranks stationed at SLAF Station Morawewa, representatives from schools in Morawewa area, including principals, teachers, students and parents.
