The No 61 Flight at SLAF Base Ratmalana celebrated its 11th anniversary today (06 May 2024) with a series of commemorative events. The celebrations commenced with a customary Working Parade held at the 61 Flight hangar premises, reviewed by the Flight Commander, Wing Commander AR Pathirage. Officers, airmen/airwomen, and civilian personnel of the flight participated in the parade, which was followed by a friendly cricket tournament held at Base cricket ground.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Civil-Military Cooperation activities (CIMIC) were organized under the guidance of the Flight Commander.

These activities included a medical campaign conducted on 30th April 2024, for the students of Ratnapura Kaluandura National School and Divurumpitiya Tamil School. Over 250 students and teachers received optical, medical and dental screenings, along with necessary treatments and medications. Moreover, a Blood Donation Campaign was held, with more than 100 personnel donating blood to support patients at the Apeksha Cancer Hospital Maharagama. The successful completion of these events was made possible through the generous sponsorship provided by the Lions Club of Dehiwala Mount Lavinia Diamond Stars in District 306 A1.

In addition to that, on 02nd May 2024, a special dinner programme was arranged through the collective efforts of the members of the 61 Flight, benefiting the children of the School for the Blind and Deaf in Ratmalana. This initiative followed a preparatory cleaning programme.
