Athletic Coaches Honoured By SLAF

The athletics coaches of the Sri Lanka Air Force were honoured today (2nd August 2011) at the Air Force headquarters with key participation of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama.
26 coaches with their student athletes, who excelled in the specific sports discipline participated in this maiden event conducted by the SLAF. 

The Chairman of Athletics in the SLAF, Air Commodore Ajith Abeysekara welcomed the coaches, athletes, Officers and other guests during his welcome speech.
Addressing the gathering, the Commander appreciated the service rendered by the coaches to the Air Force and requested them to continue the same which will bring pride to the SLAF as well as to the country in the future. Further the Commander stated that, the SLAF is willing to provide more opportunities to talented athletes who could be given facilities which they otherwise may not get and also give them the freedom to perform their task efficiently.

The Commander’s speech was followed by the awarding of certificates to coaches in appreciation of their efforts. Later during the discussion which followed, a few suggestions were expressed by the coaches with a view to develop the sportsmanship of the athletes.

The Commander then presented nutritional supplements and spikes to athletes and the ceremony came to an end.
