The Graduation Ceremony of the Defence Services Command and Staff College Course No 5 was held at the Main Auditorium of DSCSC on 14 December 2011. The Chief Guest was Hon. D M Jayaratne, the Prime Minister of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa RWP RSP psc MSc the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence & Urban Development, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force, the Additional Secretary of Ministry of Defence & Urban Development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Former Commanders, Foreign delegations and many other distinguish guests were also attended the Ceremony.

The Fifth Course commenced on 3rd January 2011 and terminated on 14th of December 2011. A total of 83 Officers graduated on this occasion inclusive of 48 Officers from the Army, 13 Officers from the Navy, 14 Officers from the Air Force and 08 Foreign Officers from Bangladesh, China, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sudan.

Wg Cdr S P V K  Senadheera RSP of the Administrative Regiment Branch received the Commandant’s ‘Golden Pen Award’ for the best Research paper of the year from amongst student officers of the Army, Navy and Air Wings and also received the “Golden Owl Award” which is awarded to the Student Officer who becomes 1st in order of Merit from the Air Wing.
