(a)  To constitute through it’s membership which could function in collaboration with government agencies, institutions – both national and international agencies, the public sector, private sector, non – government and other organizations, to promote development activities;

(b)  To develop projects and programmes within the framework of the National Policy and the existing infrastructure which held in the delivery of services to people;

(c)  To establish informal and formal links between the political leadership of the day, and the public and private sectors to help in solving problems and constraints which act as barriers to the delivery of services;

(d)  To promote co-operation and mutual confidence among all members irrespective of race, religion, language, occupation and political opinion to enable women to act as a single group interested in National Development through Service.

(e)  To ensure that the role of women in development goes beyond the confines of their role to foster the welfare of the family in general and encourage particularly the younger generation to develop Sri Lanka’s men and women in their totality recognizing and protecting the family as the basic unit of society;

(f)  To actively canvass and obtain Non – Governmental Organization collaboration in this development drive to strengthen and expand formal and non- formal educational institutions, co operative and social welfare project and other allied activities.

(g)  To encourage all persons to take their due responsibility in Society.
