On 27 November 2025, the Sri Lanka Air Force Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLAFESA) donated a wheelchair to retired Corporal Senarathna SLM (Police) at the SLAFESA Office.

The donation was made by the President of SLAFESA, Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa USP (Retd). The President of the Ex-Police Association, Mr. W.G.S.R. Warakapitiya, was also present on the occasion.

On 25 November 2025, the Sri Lanka Air Force Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLAFESA) donated a wheelchair to retired F/Sgt Fernando FRW (Police), who is currently suffering from paralysis.

The wheelchair was formally handed over by the Hon. Secretary of SLAFESA to the President of the Ex-Police Association.

Representatives of the Ex-Police Association were present at the occasion and expressed their sincere appreciation to SLAFESA for the generous assistance extended to the retired officer.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Poppy Flower Ceremony 2025 was held on 16 November 2025 under the patronage of the Hon. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, at the Cenotaph War Memorial at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Armed Forces Veterans’ Association, in collaboration with the Armed Services, organizes this annual event to honour and remember war heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the security of the motherland. The commemoration includes those who gave their lives in conflicts ranging from the First World War to the present day.

The Prime Minister, Service Commanders, invitees, and the President of SLAFESA, Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa USP (Retd), along with other Air Force veterans, laid floral tributes at the War Memorial.

The first Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting after the Annual General Meeting was held on 07 November 2025 at the AFESA Office Conference Hall, Eagles’ Skylink Complex, Guwanpura.

The meeting was successfully conducted under the chairmanship of President Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa USP (Retd), with the participation of EXCO members, including three Vice Presidents, the Secretary, and representatives from 16 affiliated associations.

The SLAF Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLAFESA) successfully conducted its 44th Annual General Meeting and Fellowship Lunch on 18 October 2025. The prestigious event took place at the Eagles’ Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall in Attidiya, bringing together a distinguished gathering of over 800 retired members.

The Patron and Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, was represented by Air Commodore Amitha Jayamaha, who attended as the Chief Guest.

A key highlight of the AGM was the appointment of the new Board of Management. Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa USP (Retd) was unanimously elected President of SLAFESA. Following his election, a new Executive Committee was appointed to steer the Association’s welfare initiatives for the 2025/2026 term.

The gathering concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the continued support provided by the Commander and the AFBM for the well-being of the retired community.
