The foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed Holiday Resort of the Sri Lanka Air Force Ex-Servicemen’s Association was successfully held at the SLAF Station Diyatalawa premises on August 10, 2026, at the auspicious time of 10:26 AM. Under the guidance and instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, the ceremony was presided over by the President of the SLAFESA, Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa (Retd), alongside the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Diyatalawa, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa.
The construction project is being carried out under the full supervision of the Director General Construction Engineering, Air Vice Marshal K.M.P. Hewapathirana. The Sri Lanka Air Force provides complete manpower and labor for the project, while the Ex-Servicemen’s Association covers the financial costs, with comprehensive operational support from SLAF Station Diyatalawa. The event was attended by Vice Presidents of the Association, Air Vice Marshal Kithsiri Leelarathna (Retd) and Air Commodore Amal Wimalaratne (Retd), Secretary Kamal Padmakantha, along with Executive Committee members, representatives from the Uva Association, and officers and other ranks of SLAF Station Diyatalawa. Constructed for the future welfare of retired Air Force personnel and their families who rendered invaluable service to the motherland for many years, this resort marks another proud milestone for the Air Force Ex-Servicemen’s Association.
