COMMISSIONING OF THE NO 80 DIRECT ENTRY STUDENT OFFICERS' COURSE AT SLAF COMBAT TRAINING SCHOOL DIYATALAWA
A significant event took place at the SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa as the Student Officers of No. 80 Direct Entry Student Officers Course were commissioned today (19 March 2026). The Director General Training, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Weeraratne, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. 

Five Student Officers successfully graduated from this prestigious institution after an intensive eight-week programme encompassing both combat and administrative training. The course's primary focus was to transform civilians into disciplined and proficient servicemen, achieved through two main modules, Basic Ground Combat and Basic Administration. These modules covered essential skills such as Drill, Field Craft, Land Navigation, Tactics, Weapon Training, Human Rights, Air Force Administration, First Aid, Command and Leadership, Officers’ General Responsibilities and General Administration of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The course was conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Combat Training School, Diyatalawa, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa and the Officer Commanding Training, Group Captain Wasantha Lakshman.  The ceremony was organized and conducted by the Chief Instructor of Cadet Training, Squadron Leader Manula Polgampola.
