Airmen of this trade begin their career by manufacturing sheet metal part of general and aircraft ground equipment. With experience he develops the capability of repairing aircraft panels and stressed skin surfaces and assists the Air Frame tradesmen in this task. He is also tasked with the manufacturing & repairing of all type of pipelines for MT, aircraft ground equipment & aircraft. With a gain in seniority he would move on from hands on applications to performing supervisory duties. In addition he/she could be appointed as an Instructor of this trade.

Qualifications

Passes in 06 Subjects at the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination at not more than two sittings including ordinary passes in Sinhala/Tamil language, Mathematics and Science(Mathematics II, Science II if an applicant of year 1999/2000). A credit pass for Mathematics/Science is essential.
