SLAF Team Performing at SAG 2016 Shines

“The person who plays, shines” says the Hon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the inaugural speech at the opening of South Asian Games - SAG 2016, a multi-sport event and the regional Games of the Olympic Council of Asia.

He further states that their purpose blends of three “T”s.  Those are Teamwork, Togetherness and Talent.

Since it was first hosted by Kathmandu, Nepal in the year 1984, except for few occasions the event is taking place every alternate year. This mega multi-national sports event is held among the athletes of the South Asian countries in various locations across the region. The event is presently joined by the eight South Asian countries namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

SAG 2016 is unique in itself as it promotes sports with a view to boost up the team spirit as well as an amiable relationship between the South Asian countries.

12 officials, 42 Airmen and 55 Airwomen of the SLAF are in 21 Disciplines out of the total of 23 Disciplines to be held at SAG 2016.

SLAF athletes representing Sri Lanka at ongoing SAG 2016 were able to bagged many medals to date (07 February 2016) and made our country proud.
