Ex Veteran of RCyAF 1st Flying Intake Wing Commander(Retd) R Vivekananthan Visits AFHQ

Wing Commander(Retd) R Vivekananthan (01034), a Royal Ceylon Air Force(RCyAF) 1st Flying Intake Officer visited AFHQ and paid a curtsy call on Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala on 17 June  2016.

Wing Commander(Retd) R Vivekananthan was enlisted to the RCyAF Air Force on 21 September 1951 and was commissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer on 31 August 1954, who was a flying instructor and followed the Staff Collage Course in the UK. Presently he is domiciled in the USA and is visiting Sri Lanka.

Wing Commander(Retd) R Vivekananthan had served in several RCyAF establishments as the Station Commander and Commandant at the Flying Training School Academy China Bay from 05 October 1964 to 01 January 1965. He was the Base Commander China Bay from 21 December 1968. He was promoted to the rank of Wing Commander on 01 March 1970 and continued the base commander tenure till 15 March 1971.

Wing Commander R Vivekananthan had a cordial discussion with the Commander and a memento was presented to the visiting veteran to mark the special visit. Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Ranil Gurusinghe, Acting Director Air Operations Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias were  also present at the event.
