7th Anniversary of Aero Engineering Support Wing at SLAF Base Rma

The Aero Engineering Support Wing (ASW) at SLAF Base Ratmalana celebrated its 7th Anniversary on the 12 August 2016.

In order to mark this momentous occasion, the formation day celebrations began with a ‘Sharamdhana’ Campaign to clean the Mount Lavinia Beach in the afternoon of 10th August 2016 and several activities under the guidance of Commanding Officer Gp Capt LMSK Leelaratne. The service and civilian staff of the Wing, with the assistance of the Mount Lavinia Municipality Council were able to clean the Mount Lavinia shoreline. The local and foreign tourists highly appreciated this community service initiative.

On 11 August 2016, a religious ceremony and a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ was held at ‘Mallikaramaya’ Buddhist temple to invoke blessings upon those who laid down their lives for the country, those who were wounded in action, all personnel in the Sri Lanka Air Force and their families.

Finally, the 7th Anniversary Parade was conducted at the parade square at SLAF Base Ratmalana on 12th August 2016 and the Commanding Officer Group Captain LMSK Leelaratne reviewed the parade. This was followed by a get-together which included friendly cricket matches, a raffle draw and lunch for all personnel of the Wing. Most importantly, all personnel of the Wing participated to make these activities a great success.
