HIGHER LEVEL SUPERVISION VISIT AT SRI LANKA AVIATION UNIT, MINUSCA, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

The Sri Lankan delegation made a Higher-Level Supervision Visit at Sri Lanka Aviation Unit, MINUSCA, Central African Republic from 12th to 19th November 2023. The delegation was headed by the Director General General Engineering of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Commodore Gihan Seneviratne along with the Air Staff Officer II of Air Secretariate of SLAF, Group Captain Nalaka Wanasinghe, as a member. The purpose of the visit is to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the aviation assets deployed and the administrative functions to ensure uninterrupted self-sustainment and operational readiness of the Sri Lanka Aviation contingent. On the arrival to Bangui, the capital of CAR, the delegation was received by the Deputy Contingent Commander Sri Aviation Unit, Wing Commander Kanchana Liyanarachchi.

During the short spell of stay at Bria, the delegation conducted an inspection tour at Sri Aviation camp premises to assess the standard and the operational readiness of the Unit. Further, a welfare conference was convened to allow all ranks to express their concerns and suggestions to the Director General General Engineering and a social interaction session was organized during the evening. In addition, the Head of Delegation witnessed the Medal Awarding Parade for Sri Lanka Air Force 8th Aviation Contingent on 15th November 2023 as the Guest of Honour.

The Director General General Engineering visited Sector East Headquarters, Bria and paid a courtesy call to Sector Commander Sector East, Brigadier General Khandaker Md Shahidul Emran. Further, he had cordial discussions with the Force Commander of MINUSCA Lieutenant General Humphrey Nyone and the Deputy Force Commander Major General Pedro Miguel Alves Gonçalves Soares during the visit. The visit was concluded on 19th November 2023 on a successful note.
