In collaboration with the "Martin Wickramasinghe" Foundation, a Literary Conference and Books Exhibition were organized by the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit at the Defence Services College Auditorium on 31 August 2023 and 01 September 2023.
Several sub-sessions were held throughout the programme with the vision of enhancing the appreciation skills of Sinhala Literature, imparting knowledge on "Helaye Maha Gathkaru, Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe," and uplifting reading interest among the young generation. Children from schools close to Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo (Colombo District) were the main focus of this programme.
This event included a lecture on "The Invaluable Service Rendered by Mr. Martin Wickramasinghe for Sinhala Literature" conducted by Mr. Dayapala Jayaneththi, a lecture on "Spiritual Development through Reading Books" conducted by Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa, and an entertainment session on "Appreciation of Classical Songs and Poems" by Mr. Samudra Weththasinghe. Moreover, a few films were broadcast, and a valuable set of novels was donated to the Sri Lanka Air Force Library by the "Martin Wickramasinghe" Foundation. The Chairperson of the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
