The Celebration of International Women's Day 2024 - themed "Invest in Women Accelerate Progress” organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was held on 06 March 2024 at Eagles' Lakeside Banquet Hall Attidiya as a full-day programme.
The Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa graced this occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme included several sub-sessions to enlighten the audience which consisted of Senior members of the Seva Vanitha Unit and more than 300 Lady Officers, Airwomen as well as spouses of Serving personnel.
Sub sessions included a make-up and a grooming session conducted by the renowned Bridal Fashion designer Mr. Harris Wijesinghe, a skincare session conducted by the well-known beautician Mrs. Chandani Bandara,
A motivational lecture was conducted by Dr. Sister Reverend Selinta Fernando followed by the screening of the movie "Asu".
The afternoon session included a discussion with Mrs. Ashcharya Peiris Jayakodi who is an internationally recognized fashion designer with full vision impairment. She moved the audience with her life experiences and a motivational discussion was hosted by Dr. Pabasari Koliyabandara.
The day was concluded by a musical segment which was attended by Mr. Akila Vimanga Senevirathne who is a well-known Sinhala Instructor and the Leading Aircraftwoman Anjali Herath who secured the title of Derana Dream Star - season xi.
