RENOVATION OF WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM AT THE SIRIMAWO BANDARANAYAKA GIRLS SCHOOL, HANGURANKETHA

The SLAF Station Piduruthalagala has successfully concluded a ‘Guwan Mithudam’ community project today(16 May 2025) at the Sirimawo Bandaranayaka Girls school, Hanguranketha which is the only girls school at Hanguranketha area. This initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs, Krishanthi Edirisinghe.

The Sirimawo Bandaranayaka Girls school, which accommodates approximately 600 students, faced significant challenges due to an inadequate water supply for their daily requirements. The renovation of water supply system was mainly aimed to address the above shortcoming and to enhance the living standards of the school children.

Under the directives of the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Pidurutalagala, Group Captain Nalin Wewakumbura, the project was successfully completed and handed over to the school with the participation of school staff and children. The coordination and supervision of entire project was handled by the Officer-in-Charge Seva Vanitha Unit, SLAF Station Piduruthalagala, Squadron Leader SB Kolonne and staff.
