SLAF SEVA VANITHA UNIT ORGANIZES EYE CLINIC AT NAMAL POKUNA TEMPLE BENEFITING OVER 500 INDIVIDUALS

An eye clinic was held yesterday (07 July 2025) at the Namal Pokuna Temple in Dimbulagala, providing reading glasses to individuals in need. This community service initiative was organized under the guidance of the Chairperson of the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, with the reading glasses generously donated by the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Association.

The clinic was conducted in collaboration with the Chief Incumbent of Namal Pokuna Temple, Jayanthipura Nimalalankara Thero. The event received medical support from the Directorate of Health Services under the leadership of Director General Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera. The clinic itself was carried out by Wing Commander Ruwan Goonawardena, Flight Lieutenant Charuki Wijesooriya and the medical staff of the Directorate.

The Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe attended the event as the Chief Guest.

The clinic concluded successfully, registering over 500 patients. Reading glasses were distributed accordingly, and individual eye defects were identified, with referrals made for further medical consultation where necessary.

The event was also attended by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore Dinesh Jayaweera, the Secretary of the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Wing Commander Lilangi Randeni, members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha staff and local residents.
