The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka Air Force conducted a community development project at Bokalagama Primary School in Mirigama today (01 August 2025). The initiative was carried out under the ‘Guwan Mithudam’ with the objective of improving the school’s infrastructure and learning environment. The event was graced by the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe.
The scope of the project included the reconstruction of the front boundary wall, renovation of classrooms and improvement of the school’s sanitary facilities. Additional work included the repair and repainting of side perimeter walls, painting of school buildings and construction of a new main stage to support school functions. The sports ground was leveled and upgraded, while the main gate and water tank structure were also refurbished. Landscaping was carried out to enhance the school’s overall appearance and exercise books were distributed to students as part of the outreach effort.
The project was fully funded and supervised by the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, with the execution managed by SLAF Station Mirigama under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Thushara Bandara. Coordination was handled by the Officer in Charge of the Station Seva Vanitha Unit, Flight Lieutenant Sandali Karunarathne. The event was also attended by the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit at SLAF Station Mirigama, Mrs. Dilni Paththuwearachchi, Secretary SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Wing Commander Lilangi Randeni along with officers, airmen and staff members of the school.
