The Japan–Lanka Friendship Association, supported by its President, Dr. Lal Thilakarathne, and members of the delegation, extended humanitarian assistance by handing over relief items to victims affected by the recent floods today (28 December 2025) at the Air Force Headquarters Seva Vanitha Unit.
The donated items included 300 units of spectacles, one unit of chainsaw, clothing, stationery items and safety helmets. In addition, a cash donation of Seven Hundred Thousand Rupees (Rs. 700,000.00) was made towards the provision of sanitary items and dry rations for the affected families.
The event was attended by the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe, President of the Japan–Lanka Friendship Association, Dr. Lal Thilakarathne, Chief Fire Officer, Group Captain Hemantha Balasooriya, Chief Procurement Officer, Group Captain Viranga Premawardhana, Secretary of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Wing Commander Lilangi Randeni, along with officers of the Seva Vanitha Unit, airmen and airwomen.
