The Seva Vanitha Unit has commenced the distribution of school essential items to children affected by the recent Ditwah Cyclone, following the earlier acceptance of donations contributed by Sri Lankan workers in the Republic of Korea.
The start of distribution was carried out at Madolsima Tamil School with the participation of the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit. Students were provided with exercise books, school bags, pens, pencils and other necessary learning materials.
The donation programme was organised under the ‘Shilpa Yathra' initiative by Sri Lankan employees working in South Korea. The donated items, valued at over Rs. 20 million, are intended to support students whose education was disrupted due to the disaster.
The distribution programme will continue school by school in other cyclone-affected areas across the country, ensuring that children receive the necessary support to continue their studies without interruption.
