MENTAL HEALTH AND STRESS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP CONDUCTED AT SLAF TRADE TRAINING SCHOOL EKALA

A workshop on Mental Health and Stress Management was conducted at the SLAF Trade Training School Ekala in collaboration with the Seva Vanitha Unit and the Station Medical Centre.

The programme was organised with the aim of enhancing awareness among service personnel on managing workplace stress, maintaining emotional well-being, and adopting healthy coping strategies in their professional and personal lives.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Amila Bandara Herath and Dr. Supipi Dissanayaka, Community Medicine Physicians, who conducted interactive sessions focusing on recognising stress, understanding its effects on physical and mental health, and developing positive approaches to manage daily challenges.

The programme was attended by the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Mrs. Bhagya Thilakarathna and was conducted under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore Kolitha Abeysinghe.

During the sessions, participants were introduced to practical techniques such as Mandala Art and Box Breathing as methods to support stress management. The workshop also covered effective communication approaches, anger management, conflict resolution and the importance of maintaining positive interpersonal relationships within the workplace.

The programme provided valuable knowledge and practical guidance to participants, enhancing their understanding of mental health and encouraging the adoption of positive practices to support personal well-being and professional effectiveness.
