Sri Lanka Air Force Museum Celebrates International Museum Day

SLAF Museum celebrated the International Museum day on 18th May, 2012. Marking this occasion, a series of special educational programs and events were conducted for school children. As part of the program, a special video on history of aviation was also screened at the Museum Auditorium. As well as all school children were offered free admissions to the Museum.

The SLAF museum was established in 1993 as the Aircraft Preservation and Storage Unit at Air Force Base Ratmalana with the intention of preserving history of aviation in Sri Lanka and the history of Sri Lanka Air Force. In 2009 it was modernized and renamed as the Sri Lanka Air Force Museum. It is the only museum dedicated to aviation and the history of Sri Lanka Air Force in the Island.



 

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
