The Commander of the SLAF Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama conducted the Annual AOC's inspection during the morning hours of 5 July 2012 at SLAF Academy China Bay.

The Commander, upon the arrival for the inspection, was welcomed to the Academy premises through a street lining and thereafter reviewed the Parade commanded by the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay Air Commodore SK Pathirana.

Covering all areas of the Base, the Commander declared open an elegantly constructed "Log Cabin" Officers' holiday home and "Café Supersonic", a fully fledged cafeteria in the Academy premises.

Certificates of Commendation were awarded during the parade to 09283 Flight Sergeant Wanniarchchi WK (Gen Eng III) and 09637 Flight Sergeant Ajantha Gamini AA (Ops Grd III) for the valuable service they rendered to the development of the Academy.

The Commander, concluding the inspection took a seat at the Airmen mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian staff for the customary all rank lunch. This was followed by the Commander's address in which he admired the commendable work of the Commandant and the staff in maintaining the Academy at high standards as well as his vision for the future of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
