Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit Takes Another Step Forward

The Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit (SLAF SVU) which is involved in various community projects, launched phase 14 of the "Marian Goonetileke Scholarships Project" this morning (30 October 2009), named as the Anula Fernando Housing and Medical Project.

51 children of war heroes killed in action, disabled in action and Civilian staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force were facilitated with scholarships sponsored by the SLAF SVU and Janashakthi Insurance PLC.

In addition, under this project 20 interest free housing loans worth, rupees two million was granted to serving personnel and their families whilst 16 wheel chairs were also distributed among needy personnel.

The event was launched under the Patronage of the Chairperson Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke, at the Air Force Head Quarters Auditorium with the participation of Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke the Commander of the Air Force as the Chief Guest. A number of distinguished guests also participated at the event.
