Passing out of No. 26 Basic Airborne and No. 05 Basic Freefall Course at SLAF Ampara

The Passing out of the No. 26 Basic Airborne Course and No. 05 Basic Freefall Course was held at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara on 12th October 2012 with Director Operations of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal GP Bulathsinghala as Chief Guest. The Naval Officer in Charge Ampara District, Commodore U I Serasinghe, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Ampara, Gp Capt NNDA Nanayakkara also participated.

A total number of 42 parachute troopers, which included 31 basic airborne troopers and 11 Freefall troopers, who successfully completed the No.26 Basic Airborne Course and No. 05 Freefall Course received their Parachute Badges from the Chief Guest during the passing out.

Trainees of the course displayed their skills by jumping from a Y-12 aircraft to the Station Para Dropping Zone during the during the passing out. Furthermore, the instructors of the Parachute School also joined the trainees in a freefall parachute jumping display.

The passing out was made more colourful by the Drill and Band displays carried out by the Sri Lanka Air Force Regiment Colour Squadron and Sri Lanka Air Force Band.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
