SLAF Ushers in year 2013
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama addressed officers, other ranks and civilians this morning (01 January 2013) at Air Force Headquarters at a ceremony to usher in year 2013.
The Commander read out the Public Service Pledge and during in his address emphasized the importance of working as per one’s conscious; he also expressed examples from the Dhammapada to explain how one needs to be rigid, unwavering and humble in approach to life. The Commander wished all present a happy and prosperous New Year and stated that all members of the SLAF should maintain the high standards expected from them both inside and outside the organization.
A multi religious ceremony was also held to invoke blessings on the SLAF and its personnel. Similar ceremonies to mark the New Year were held in all Air Force Establishments country wide.
