The Defence Secretary inspects the construction of the SLAF Reception Hall
Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha and the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama made a visit to the reception hall that is under constructions at boat yard SLAF Base Katunayake on 03 January 2013.
This reception hall which encompasses a total area of 23,000 sq feet comprises a 9,000 sq foot banquet hall, a bridal dressing room, a studio, four dual occupancy rooms and two large changing rooms for artistes. In addition, the complex boasts of a wide verandah and a large landscaped garden which rolls down to the Negombo lagoon. This facility, once completed ,will enable service personnel to hold weddings and other functions at a fraction of the cost of hotels with offer similar facilities. The complex will also be available for booking by the general public as well.
Director Civil Engineering Air Vice Marshal CR Gurusinghe, Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake Air Cdre DLS Dias & The senior officers of SLAF Base Katunayake were present during the visit.
