SLAF Produced Another Batch of EOD Qualified Personnel

The Badge Awarding Parade of No. 25 Officers No. 40 Airmen and No.16 Navy Basic EOD Course was held at SLAF Station Palavi on 30th July 2013. A total of forty personnel which comprised four SLAF, two Naval Officers and thirty Airmen, four Sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy took part in this course which was conducted for a period of over five months.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal School which was recently relocated from SLAF Station Sigiriya, established with the sole intention of providing a sound theoretical and practical knowledge on explosive handling to the Officers and Airmen of the Sri Lanka Air Force and Officers and Sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Flying Officer NK Thilakarathna and Leading Aircraftman Herath HMCB were adjudged as the Best EOD Officer and Best EOD Airman of the Courses respectively.

The Commanding Officer SLAF Station Palavi Group Captain K Wannigama graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst, Squadron Leader SP Weerasinghe the Chief Instructor EOD Training School, Officers and Airmen were also present to witness the event.
