All Night Pirith Chanting and Alms Giving at SLAF Morawewa

An all night ‘Pirith Chanting’ ceremony to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force Regiment Special Forces (RSF) Wing and all personnel killed and missing in action during active service and to invoke blessings on their souls, followed by an alms giving for 100 Maha Sangha was held recently at SLAF Unit Morawewa.



Prior to the commencement of Pirith chanting ceremony, the ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was taken to the RSF Headquarter in a colorful procession and was placed within the ‘Pirith Mandapaya’ by the Commanding Officer RSF Wing Squadron Leader DPW Wimalawardene.  This religious event was well attended by the families of those Officers and Airmen who have left the RSF Wing as well as current serving personnel and their families.
                                                                             
Subsequent to the all night Pirith chanting, an alms giving was accorded to the venerable Maha Sangha, which was followed by the presentation of 100 ‘Ata Pirikara’. This meritorious endeavour culminated, with all those who attended partaking in the alms giving.
