Sri Lanka Air Force Felicitates a Book for “Angampora”

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama who pioneered the introduction of the indigenous martial art of “Angampora” to the Sri Lanka Air Force was felicitated with the presentation of a plaque and the book “Helaye Satan Rahasa Angampora” authored by Dr. Ajantha Mahantharachchi the Angam Muhandiram of the Korathota ‘Ange Medilla Ranapila’ and the Chief Instructor of the Air Force Angampora Team at Air Force Headquarters on 19 February 2014.

With the initiative taken by the Commander, training of RSF/SABF personnel of the Air Force in ‘Angampora’ commenced in 2012.  Since then, it has reached great heights with the training being extended to children of Air Force personnel and Cabin Crew employed on flights carried out by the Air Force, which also paved the way for other institutions to follow suit.

Also present on the occasion was Air Commodore Camillus Labrooy, Chairman Angampora of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
