SVU of SLAF Base Katunayake Celebrates the Women’s Day

A Shramadana and an alms giving were organized on 12 March 2014 by the Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Base Katunayake to mark Women’s Day which fell on 8 March 2014 under the guidance of the Base Commander, Air Commodore SK Pathirana.
The St Joseph Elders’ Home at Negombo was selected for this charitable event. The members of the Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Base Katunayake joined together to clean the entire building and surroundings to improve the living conditions of the inmates. Thereafter, the ladies shared lunch with 75 elderly women who lived in this facility, sharing the joy of this day dedicated to celebrating womanhood.
The president SVU of SLAF Base Katunayake Mrs Chamini Pathirana, together with the wives of CO’s of the formations of this Base and other members of the Seva Vanitha Unit participated in the event.
