Unveiling of Buddha Statue by H.E. the President at Sithul Pauwa Raja Maha Viharaya


With the blessings of Chief Prelate of the historical Sithul Pauwa Raja Maha Viharaya Mataramba Hemarathana, SLAF Station Weerawila initiated placing of a Samadhi Buddha Statue for the benefit of pilgrims visiting this historic temple under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force.

This event was organized in view of the State Poson Festival at Sithul Pauwa Raja Maha Viharaya. The statue was donated by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Weerawila Gp Capt MDJ Wasage and Mrs. Maali Wasage with the support of all officers and airmen of the station.

On the invitation of the Commander of the Air Force, this Buddha Statue was unveiled by H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksha. The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke graced the event which was organized by SLAF Station Weerawila. Many dignitaries of the local area including Hon. M.P. Namal Rajapaksha attended the unveiling ceremony of Samadhi Buddha Statue.
