Dental Clinic and Awareness Programme
A special dental clinic and an awareness programme on oral health for school children and underprivileged people organized by SLAF Station Ampara was conducted at Galahitiyagoda Maha Vidyalaya, Ampara under the guidance and supervision of Gp Capt C Wickramaratne, Commanding Officer SLAF Stn Ampara on 26 Jun 14. This social welfare project became a reality due to the unstinted support provided by Gp Capt Weerasekara CDO and the dental staff.
A team of 06 dental surgeons led by Wg Cdr JPW Jayawickrama and 40 dental assistants participated in the mass dental clinic where over six hundred students, teachers, and parents were provided with a variety of treatments. A series of lectures on common oral diseases and oral hygiene were also conducted by the dental officers.
Students, teachers and parents expressed their gratitude to the Sri Lanka Air Force for conducting a valuable health clinic for the needy people. Concluding the clinic, the Commanding Officer thanked the Principal for providing the opportunity and station staff and the dental staff for their untiring efforts to make the event a success.
