No.07 Helicopter Squadron came across a period of 20 years from 1994 to 2014 and was one of the major strengths to unite Sri Lanka under one flag with peace and harmony. No.07 Helicopter Squadron came into existence initially as the 401 Squadron under the guidance and leadership of then Sqn Ldr KVB Jayampathy.

The anniversary celebrations were started with donating a lavatory system to Mahasena Aranya Senasanaya Magalkanda at Minneriya on 21st September 2014. On 24th September 2014, Commanding Officer of No. 07 Helicopter Squadron reviewed the working parade and subsequent to the working parade, the festivities began with a night Get together.

The 20th anniversary of No.07 Helicopter Squadron was held with the participation of the Director Air Operations AVM KVB Jayampathy, former Commanding Officers Air Commodore HMSK Koatakadeniya, Air Commadore DK Wanigasooriya, and Base Commander Gp Capt RS Wickramaratne. Technicians, Air gunners who had served the Squadron and now retired from the Air Force also joined the ceremonies along with, all Officers, Airmen and civilian staff of the Squadron.
