Religious rites and rituals, precursor to the forthcoming enshrinement of sacred relics at the ‘Sanda Hiru Seya’ at Anuradhapura, have been inaugurated with the involvement of tri-service Commanders, Inspector General of Police and Director General of the Civil Defence Force.

As the next leg of the programme, the relics were then taken in procession to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises and delivered to the Maha Sangha where a week-long Pirith chanting is expected to begin from 15 Nov 14.
