The Largest Weekly Fair in the Country Erected by SLAF
His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa vested in the public the largest Weekly Fair Complex in the country at Embilipitiya yesterday.
The complex, comprising three large hangars, and four two-storied buildings with 64 shops in total facing the road-front, can accommodate approximately 700 vendors and offers easy access from the main road.
The construction of this mega project was wholly carried out by the Sri Lanka Air Force in a relatively short period of one year and five months. 2 officers and 260 Airmen were attached to this project under the purview of the Director Civil Engineering Air Vice Marshal Ranil Gurusinghe.
Religious Dignitaries, Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, Chief Minister and the Governor of the Province, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke and his two counterparts from Army and Navy, Officers, and other ranks were present at the event.
