Formation Day Celebration of No 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron At Slaf Stn Weerawila
No 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Weerawila celebrated its 8th anniversary on 01 February 2015.
Induction of Indra MK II Radars to Sri Lanka Air Force, as a part of National Air Defence system led to the formation of No. 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron in the year 2007. Since then the No. 03ADRS played a vital role in Air Defence Network providing Air surveillance, early warning, close control of interceptor aircraft and assistance for navigational / rescue missions.
The anniversary commemorative activities were enriched with the theme of improving the spirituality of the squadron personnel by organizing a cleaning campaign at Thissapura Wiwekarama temple under the patronage of Commanding Officer SLAF Station Weerawila Group Captain PSN Fernando and Commanding Officer No. 03 ADRS Wing Commander MC Peiris. A Cricket match among Squadron personnel also contributed towards uplifting the team spirit and the fraternal bonds within the squadron.
