The SLAF Designs Modern Software to Process the results of the Year 5 Scholarship Examinations

A modern software application designed and implemented by the Sri Lanka Air Force was utilized this year by the Ministry of Education for the processing of the Year 5 Scholarship Examination Results for the allocation of schools for successful candidates.

The Sri Lanka Air Force was approached by the Ministry of Education to design a software to replace the erstwhile dBase IV programme that was used for the processing of results.  The requirement was for a programme that would run in the Windows environment.

The project commenced with the approval of the Air Force Board of Management.  The initial agreement was for the systems to process 32000 applications and the results were to be handed over on 15 December 2014.

However, due to a delay in the applications being handed over for processing, the final results were handed over to the ministry of education on 30 January 2015.  The final application count was 48,900 which was the highest ever number of applicants in the history of the examination.  The programme was able to successfully process the marks and allocate schools for this whole number.

The Ministry of Education has expressed its satisfaction and plans to utilize the programme in the ensuing years.

This is the first time that the Sri Lanka Air Force has taken on a project of this magnitude.  The successful completion of this project is a landmark achievement that brings credit to the professionalism and the dynamism of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
