A golf awareness programme was launched at the “Palm Groves Mini Golf Club” at SLAF Base Katunayake on 30 April 2015 upon the guidance of Base Commander Air Commodore SK Pathirana.  This sports venture was organized to promote the game of golf in the Air Force and also to attract and familiarize the officers and their families on playing golf.

All the activities of this programme were open for newcomers and they contested in events such as the Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and the Best Putter which made them feel the excitement of the game.

T-shirts and caps with the “Palm Groves Mini Golf Club” logo were made available for all those who took part in this occasion and also introduced to be kept in the golf club as souvenirs.

An officers’ get-together with BBQ night and DJ was held in the evening with the presentation of awards for the winners. The Base Commander, Commanding Officers, all officers of the Base and their families participated in the event.
