Pirith Chanting Cermony at SLAF Station Katukurunda

An all-night Pirith chanting ceremony followed by an almsgiving was held at SLAF Station Katukurunda on 5th and 6th November 2015 under the patronage of the Commanding Officer SLAF Station Katukurunda, Wing Commander Mohan Balasuriya.  The ceremony was held to invoke blessings on occupation of renovated Station Headquarters building and to commemorate 31 years of SLAF Station Katukurunda.
   
A colorful procession was organized along with traditional dances and other cultural items by the service personnel to accompany the religious relics for Pirith Ceremony and was followed by an almsgiving.  The first Commanding Officer of the Station Ex-Flight Lieutenant S Edirisuriya (1984-1989) participated in the ceremony as a distinguished invitee.
   
Religious blessing were invoked on the fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in protecting our motherland, those who died whilst on active service at the station, all ranks, civilian staff and the families presently serving in the SLAF station.
