Pushing the limits of endurance - The annual SLAF Cycling Race
08th Mar,2010: The SLAF "Papadi Sawariya" began today with over one hundred participants from 18 cycling clubs including the three armed forces and police. After a spirited sprint to Pannala the competitors cycled to Chilaw to end the first day of the three day race. Today saw the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force and the Ports Authority cyclists emerging in the lead.  
 
The second leg of the race will begin tomorrow (9th March) at 07.30hr at Palavi. The race will be flagged offed in front of the Palavi Singer Ltd Showroom. The second stage will see the race moving inland to the hills as the 125Km has to be covered to reach the historical city of Kandy from Palavi. 
 
The annual Papadi Sawariya is organized by the SLAF with the support of the Sri Lanka Cycling Association to celebrate the anniversary of the Air Force. This year Singer Sri Lanka Ltd and Sri Lanka Insurance joint hands with the SLAF as Sponsors to the event. Media sponsorship is from Derana TV and Derana Radio.
