Sri Lanka Aviation Unit– MINUSCA Celebrates New Year
Sri Lanka Air Force Aviation Unit stationed at Bria , Central African Republic celebrated New Year 2016 in a grand level with an all rank breakfast held on 14th April 2016 with traditional ‘Avurudu’ sweet-meats.
The main cultural event ‘Wasantha Udanaya 2016’ was organized on 17th April 2016 with the participation of all contingent members and invites. Head of Office Sector East MINUSCA, Mr. Oumar BA graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr. Oumar BA was traditionally welcomed by the Contingent Commander. Many high ranking Officers of other contingents and many foreign dignitaries of the mission attended for this event.
A variety of traditional new year games were organized such as ‘Kotta pora’ , ‘Kana mutti’ , Tug of war, Fancy dress parade, ‘Aliyata Ehe Thabeema’ and ‘Awurudu Kumaraya’ which were keenly participated by both contingent members and foreigners. The event was a great success which depicted the proud culture and traditions of Sri Lanka and was much appreciated by the invites.
