SLAF Relief Operations Conducted on 19 May 2016
Bell 212 Helicopter took off from No 4 Squadron, SLAF Base Ratmalana carried out reconnaissance missions to assess flood affected areas and flood relief mission since 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs.
Bell helicopters flew along Kelani River from Kelaniya to Hanwella, Colombo area and Kotikawattha areas with food, water and essential medical supplies.
03 people were evacuated from Kotikawaththa area through ropes operations and dropped total of 1500 ration packets and 843 X 5 Litre water bottles.
2x Recce missions on carried out by B 200 aircraft and those flew total of 05.45 hrs. and 1xB 212 recce flew for 01 hr.
One MI -17 flight was arrange to Recce over flood effected areas with 23 Journalists.
