The Commander inspected all sections of the Base, No. 111 UAV Squadron, No. 2 Air Defence Radar Squadron, No. 23 Regiment Wing and No. 2 Motor Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing. declared open the newly constructed Welfare Amenity Complex consisting of a Cafeteria, Welfare Shop, Juice Conner, Cyber Cafe, Babar Saloon and Tailor Shop and also declared open the newly constructed Vehicle Shelter of the No 02 Motor Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing.

Commander also joined for the customary all ranks lunch at the Airmen mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian Staff. Concluding the AOC’s inspection, Commander addressed all ranks including the civilian personnel and commended their hard work to uplift the standards of the base and emphasized the need to contribute their best to the Air Force as well as to the motherland at all times.

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala conducted the AOC’s inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya today (23 June 2016).

Prior to the inspection proper, the Commander reviewed the AOC's parade commanded by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Vavuniya Group Captain Udeni Rajapaksa.  Certificates of Commendations were awarded to 25862 Sergeant Herath SHDSK (MT Fitter SP), 013026 Sergeant Jayasundara JMS (Mech Tech III) and Mr. RS Rupasinghe (Labour) for the exceptional service rendered to the development of the Base..
