Second Stage of Virusara Privilage Card launches in Polonnaruwa
Second Stage launch of the 'Virusara' privilege card for War Hero families in the Polonnarauwa District was held today (27 June 2016), at Rajarata Vidyalaya,Hingurakgoda, under the patronage of HE the President Maithripala Sirisena.
Addressing the ceremony HE the President Maithripala Sirisena stated that,“He would not let any war hero who are retired or in the service, to become helpless and the current government is dedicated to improve the quality and the strength of the security forces”, he said.
Under the 2nd phase, over 700 family members of fallen War Heroes and disabled personnel will receive a wide range of benefits from more than 45 state and private sector services, such as tangible discounts on medicine, food varieties, transport, hospital treatment, loans, educational courses, etc and recognizes the priceless services of War Heroes on priority basis.
19 Scholarships were provided to war-affected Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala students in the North and East.
State Minister for Defence Hon Mr Ruwan Wijewardane, Hon Ministers, Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, distinguished invitees, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri Forces Commanders, senior officers of the Tri Forces including Police and Civil Security Force, family members of the fallen and disabled war heroes present at the ceremony.
