A Visual Screening Campaign & Eye Clinic at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Sigiriya

A Visual Screening Campaign & Eye Clinic was organized at the SLAF Station Sigiriya on 28th June 2016.

With the directions of the Director Health Services Air Commodore Lalith Jayaweera and the supervision of the Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Air Force Station Sigiriya Group Captain Harsha Jayathilake, the Station Seva Vanitha Unit successfully organized this event in view of extending eye care for the immediate family members of the service personnel, civil employees and villagers resided nearby the station.

Accepting the invitation of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Dr. R.M Senanayake,  Dr.W.Niluka De Mel, Dr.A.A.D.T. Saparamadu and Ophthalmologist Mr.S.K. R.T. Karunasena from the General Hospital Dambulla extended their fullest cooperation to make this community service a success. This overall program was coordinated and led by Dr. Kala Shivayoganadan, consultant eye surgeon, District Base Hospital Dambulla and 230 personnel were screened.

In addition, a one hour program on “Yoga Meditation” was also organized concurrently to the above event for the service personnel of the Station. This was conducted by Mrs. Bashini Dissanyake and Mrs. Panditharathne of ‘Sethsanda Yoga Nikethanaya’ Kandy Branch.

Sri Lanka Air Force, is the only aerial arm among the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, responsible for defending the nation's airspace and supporting its sister services for all kind of operations.
