Cradle Operation Exercise in South Sudan

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan carried out their maiden “Cradle Operation” with the help of Sri Lanka Aviation Unit on 11 September 2018.

The Chief Aviation Officer (CAVO) for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Mr. Samuel Abrokwa also witnessed the exercise.

The exercise simulated the rescue and transport of a patient from the barge which operates in the Nile River to a nearby hospital for the treatment. The Sri Lanka Aviation Unit is the only capable aviation unit in UNMISS for executing a Cradle Operation.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
