Workshop on 'Air Surveillance Operations for More Effective Environmental Management and Conservation'

A one day workshop was conducted between SLAF Air Surveillance Team of Directorate of Air Intelligence and Central Environmental Authority Officials on 14th December 2018 at the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) Auditorium, Battaramulla.

The session was inaugurated by the Chairman of Central Environmental Authority, Mr.Chandrarathne Pallegama. Key Speakers were Dr. Manju Gunawardana, Consultant-nanotech applications of Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology and Research Scientist, Air Commodore Dilshan Wasage, Staff Officer Air and Maritime Strategic Command Centre and Squadron Leader Malinda Gamlakshage, Air Surveillance Officer.

During the workshop, the future application of drones to mitigate environmental issues, how to increase the capacity of the air surveillance missions and how utilize drones more effectively to assist the National requirements in the mean of environmental aspects was discussed. Island wide CEA officers participated and at the end of the workshop an interactive session was held with SLAF personal in order to build good coordination for future operations.
