A scholarship awarding ceremony organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was held at Air Force headquarters auditorium today (03rd August 2010).

At this function 152 children of SLAF personnel killed in action, disabled in action and civil personnel of Sri Lanka Air Force were awarded scholarships.The scholarship programme was sponsored  by Janashakthi Insurance PLC.

These scholarships were awarded through the Marian Goonetileke scholarship project phase XV, launched under the patronage of its Chairperson Air force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Nelun Goonetileke.

Hon. Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, whilst Mr Chandra Schafter, Mr Ravi Liyanage, Mr Charith Mudalige from Janshakthi Insuarance the sponsors were also present as honored guests. The Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Directors of the Air Force Board of Management, other senior officers,  and family members of the recipients were also present during the occasion..
