SLAF prepares for the 71st National Day Celebrations

A rehearsal for the 71st National Day Parade was held this morning (2 February 2018) at the Galle Face Green. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy was present to inspect the rehearsals. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal DLS Dias, the Director Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal SK Pathirana, the Director Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal KFR Fernando, Senior officers of the Tri Forces were also present at today’s rehearsals.

This year too, the Sri Lanka Air Force will participate in the ceremonial parade with 49 Officers, 743 Airmen and 103 Airwomen who are expected to join the parade to present their salute to His Excellency the President.

Further, the aircraft fleet of the SLAF is due to perform the National Day Fly-Past and the newly formed “Blue Eagles” Aerobatics Team is also due to make an appearance during the parade.

 

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
